experience
Outward Bound is a not-for-profit charitable educational
organization dedicated to adventure-based, outdoor education.
In some of the most spectacular places Canada has to offer,
Outward Bound has pioneered experiential or, "learn-by-doing"
wilderness education, since 1969. Part of the Outward
Bound family, we are one of more than 50 schools around the
world.

youth
If youve ever wondered where you fit into this
world, sometimes just getting out there can help you figure
it out. People tell us that Outward Bound made them look at
life differently. They learned things about themselves
they learned they had more strength, courage and capabilities
than they ever imagined. They say theyll never forget
being Outward Bound.
At Outward Bound Canada we deliver an experience like no
other. Our approach to education is experiential or
"learn-by-doing." You pick where you want to learn
the rugged peaks of western Canada, the boreal forest
of northern Ontario, or BCs beautiful coastal waters.
The wilderness is your classroom.

time to fulfill a dream youve had for years, Outward
Bound Canada is ready when you are. An Outward Bound journey
offers more than a conventional vacation. Its an opportunity
to grow, to test yourself, and to experience an adventure
of a lifetime in a spectacular wilderness setting.

community
Survivors of violence and abuse. People living with
cancer. Single mothers who shoulder so much of the responsibility
on their own. People with differing physical abilities. Young
people who may have encountered, or be on the brink, of trouble
who need to feel the pride of achievement in order to change
direction. We also have a variety of programs for Aboriginal
people designed in collaboration with native communities that
incorporate native values and teaching principles.

history
"Outward Bound transcends class and individual
differences and kindles within each of us a sense of community
and strong dedication to service. The wilderness environment
allows ones veneers to slip away, and each person can
grow through daring to risk, to care, and to share with others.
As an educational forum, Outward Bound offers true learning,
involving heart, mind, and body, in a way that will last a
lifetime."
This was the philosophy of Outward Bound founder, Kurt Hahn.
