Join a new group of friends and a team of world class Association of Canadian Mountain Guide certified Instructors on this amazing 21-day wilderness experience in the rugged Rocky Mountains of Alberta this summer. You will see the vast Alberta grasslands fade into the distance as you hike into the steep, forested mountain valleys and up above the tree line, into the alpine areas of Canada's most famous mountain range.
You and your group will be fully mobile and carry everything you need for 21 days in your backpacks. Leaving the creature comforts of home far behind, you’ll have the chance to watch the sun rise from the top of a high mountain peak, eat a warm meal carefully prepared by your climbing partners, help others cross a swift, glacier-fed stream, and follow the tracks of a magnificent elk. This course is an opportunity to see yourself and others challenged to the core and exhilarated beyond belief – as you travel into the Rocky Mountains.

On this course, you’ll learn how to pack your backpack, cook fast but delicious meals on trail, and to set up, maintain, and break down a minimal-impact campsite. You will learn how to travel safely and efficiently in a mountain environment: navigate using a topographical map and compass, work on route-finding skills, learn how to assess and avoid hazards, and travel across scree and snow-slopes. During your 48-hour solo, you will have time to reflect, and set goals for the rest of the course and for life after Outward Bound.
As a team and as individuals, you'll learn how to think critically and make positive choices about how to solve problems, how to work towards common goals and how to encourage each other to higher levels of fitness and team learning. You'll discover the awesome things you can accomplish when you set your mind to it: climb a sheer rock face or stand atop a remote mountain peak. Near the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to put these new skills to use, as you and your group work toward independence from your instructors on a final expedition. You will also have an opportunity to give something back, with a day of community service
Bring a friend or come on your own and surprise yourself with skills and capabilities you may not have known you had!
