ALBERTA SCHOOL & GROUPS PROGRAMS

Outward Bound Canada (OBC) offers a range of programs tailored to schools and groups (ages 12 to 29), adapting to different abilities and comfort zones.

All programs share a common element: immersion in a new and natural environment where participants engage in hands-on learning experiences and reflect on their journey.

Our distinctive outdoor education experiences leave a deep impression on participants by fostering group cohesion and giving each individual the opportunity to acquire new skills and build self-confidence in a risk-managed environment.

Our programs in Alberta take place in a variety of beautiful natural settings in and around Kananaskis Country, a park system in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies that includes a number of formally designated wildland parks, provincial parks, recreation parks, ecological reserves and cultural zones.

With its proximity to frontcountry and backcountry areas, participants have the unique opportunity to develop their outdoor skills in the frontcountry before embarking on classic Outward Bound wilderness adventures lasting between 2 and 10 days in any season.

Our programs focus on developing leadership, resilience and compassion through immersion in the outdoors and learning skills such as:

  • Cultural competence
  • Backpacking
  • Canoeing
  • Snowshoeing
  • Campcraft (i.e., building a fire, building a shelter, cooking, navigating, water purification, and tying knots);
  • Wilderness expedition skills
  • Conflict resolution and group dynamics
  • Risk management
  • Solo experiences to promote self-reflection and awareness
  • Service opportunities to teach community impact

We’re flexible and can work with you to develop customized programs for your group. Just tell us what you want, and we’ll take care of it.
