Haida Gwaii Sea Kayaking Reach Beyond – 2020 Expedition

Navigate by sea kayak the waterways and islands of Gwaii Haanas National Park, rated #1 by National Geographic Traveller Magazine. Haida Gwaii, formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, is your wilderness playground for this 8-day expedition which includes a visit to the village of SGang Gwaay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the largest number of original standing totem poles in the world.

A vast wilderness of magnificent old growth rain forests, ancient aboriginal culture, and abundant wildlife, Haida Gwaii is one of the richest biological and cultural regions of North America. It is both a geological and geographical treasure chest. There are a mix of wild beaches, some rock-strewn and covered with fossils, others sandy and dotted with sand dunes and lush marshes providing ideal nesting for waterfowl. Overall towers the silent rain forest, providing a protective canopy which allows the abundant flora and fauna to thrive in this “Galapagos of the North!”

Explore the natural wonders and cultural treasures of this world famous destination while experiencing the benefits of a true Outward Bound experience which includes the opportunity for individual reflection, personal development and challenge, group interaction and bonding, and skill acquisition.

*As this is a fundraising expedition, the expectation is that all participants will make a donation to support OBC’s charitable programs.
