Outward Bound Canada’s 10-day courses are designed to help you take charge of your life and realize what you are capable of.  Each experience begins with a physical journey – stepping out of the comforts of day-to-day routines and into an environment that may be very new, adventurous and exciting, but also foreign and uncertain. Facing these changes helps to bring out new perspectives. Using the challenges of the course as a starting-point, our skilled instructors will teach you how to transfer the skills learned on course to your life at home. These important life skills include caring for yourself, taking responsibility for your choices, expressing your needs and opinions with confidence, and working with others in your life at home.

AREA & ACTIVITIES

Your journey begins when you meet your group in Huntsville, Ontario.  From there you will make your way deep into the breathtaking wilderness of Algonquin Park, where you will paddle and portage through the traditional waterways and trails of the oldest provincial park in Canada.

Designed for those without prior camping or canoeing experience, this course will teach wilderness travel techniques and navigation, backcountry cooking, flatwater canoeing, minimal impact camping, camp-craft and wilderness safety. This course also includes an up to 24-hour solo experience where you will prove your skills while being supervised by our experienced instructional team.  Often described as the most transformative part of the experience, your solo will give you the chance to reflect on earlier conversations from the expedition, absorb important realizations about yourself, and leave behind anything that will no longer serve you going forward.
