OUTDOOR EDUCATION IS FOR EVERYONE!

Thanks to the generous support of our donors and partners, we’ve made strides in making outdoor education more inclusive. In 2023, we served more than 4,000 youth across Canada through our spring and summer youth programs and our school and groups programs. Approximately 75% of these individuals or groups required financial assistance from OBC to get outside.

We’re working tirelessly to expand our impact and reach even more youth underserved with outdoor education. Your support can play a crucial role in this endeavour. Help us empower youth through outdoor education.

In 2023, our participants reflected a diversity of:

PIE CHART ICON 1 14% First Nations, Inuit or Metis
PIE CHART ICON 2 18% People of colour
PIE CHART ICON 5 21% Members of 2SLGBTQIA+ community
PIE CHART ICON 4 50% Youth from families whose income just covers basic expenses

empowering youth is what we do

Any young person who wants to build positive connections with their peers and step out of their comfort zone is welcome on our courses. For some youth, paying course fees and accessing outdoor education programs like ours come with no or few barriers. But that’s not the story for everyone. As a youth-serving charity, we believe that all youth should have access to high quality, impactful outdoor education experiences that help them reach their potential. That’s why we strive to make our courses accessible to participants from all walks of life by offering financial assistance through scholarships, bursaries, and the Outward Bound Canada Youth Access Fund, a grant that subsidizes course fees based on financial need and a “pay what you can” approach.
