Your Donor Advised Fund. Their life-changing adventure

Posted on

If you have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), you already have a powerful way to support the causes that matter to you. But did you know you can use your DAF to help more young people from underserved communities access life-changing outdoor experiences with Outward Bound Canada (OBC)?

Donor Advised Funds offer a simple and flexible way to plan your charitable giving. You can recommend a grant donation to OBC through your DAF at any time, helping young people across Canada who face barriers to participation build confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and a deeper connection with themselves, each other, and the natural world.

What is a Donor Advised Fund?

A Donor Advised Fund is a charitable giving account established through a community foundation or other DAF provider.
When you contribute to your fund, you receive a charitable tax receipt from the DAF provider. You can then recommend grants from the fund to registered Canadian charities over time. Funds can also be invested, allowing them to potentially grow and support your charitable giving for years to come.

For many donors, a DAF provides a convenient way to organize their charitable giving and support multiple organizations through one fund.

Turn your DAF into outdoor opportunities for youth

A grant from your Donor Advised Fund can help Outward Bound Canada reduce financial barriers and create opportunities for youth from underserved communities to learn, grow, and discover what they’re capable of through outdoor adventure.

OBC programs offer opportunities to develop confidence, resilience, leadership, social-emotional skills, and a deeper connection to nature through outdoor experiential learning. Your support helps make these experiences accessible to young people who might otherwise not be able to participate.

In 2025 alone, OBC served 3,502 young people across Canada, with 78% of participants receiving some form of financial support to help remove barriers to participation. At the same time, the need continues to exceed the funding available, with youth, schools, community organizations, and other groups still waiting for opportunities to access OBC programs. Your support can help us reach more of them.

Whether you’re passionate about youth development, experiential education, mental health and resilience, or connecting young people with the natural world, your DAF can extend that impact.

How to recommend a grant to Outward Bound Canada

Ready to support OBC through your Donor Advised Fund? The process is simple. Recommend a grant through your DAF provider using the following information:

Charity: Outward Bound Canada
Charitable Registration Number: 89251 1692 RR0001

Your DAF provider will take care of the rest and contact OBC directly if any additional information is required.

Every DAF provider has its own process, so the exact steps may look a little different depending on where your fund is held.

Your fund. Their next adventure.

Funds held in a Donor Advised Fund have already been set aside to make a difference. By recommending a grant to Outward Bound Canada, you can put those charitable dollars to work helping more young people from underserved communities experience challenge, discovery, connection, and belonging outdoors, while equipping the next generation with the confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and sense of possibility they can carry into their communities, their careers, and the many other ways they will help shape Canada’s future.
